Founded in 2004 by his heirs, Emanuela and Marco, the Gianfranco Frattini Archive serves as the main reference point for the preservation and promotion of the architect’s work. Today, it focuses on contextualizing his design philosophy within the current landscape and transmitting the legacy and cultural value of the Maestro’s work.
In 2007, the studio donated drawings, transparencies, sketches, models, and photographs produced during 50 years of activity to the CSAC - Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione at the University of Parma, which now houses the physical archive of materials. These resources are accessible to scholars and enthusiasts.
The Archive also meticulously evaluates and manages requests for re-editions and collaborations with manufacturing companies such as Acerbis, Artemide, Tacchini, Poltrona Frau, and Gubi.
Since 2019, this has been complemented by a continuously updated digital archive available at gianfrancofrattini.com. Hundreds of photographs of products and projects have been digitized and cataloged, incorporating updates on new re-editions, as well as publications in magazines, unpublished contributions, and new documentation. The result is an open-ended project—a platform dedicated to operational research and deeper exploration of Frattini’s legacy.
In parallel with the website, the Gianfranco Frattini Archive’s Instagram profile celebrates and keeps the legacy of the Milanese architect and designer alive. Through a curated selection of historical and contemporary images, the feed highlights the versatility of his work. Photos of interiors, architecture, and iconic products demonstrate his significant contribution to 20th-century Italian design. The profile also includes press articles and both historical and contemporary publications, providing a comprehensive overview of his career and the growing interest in his work.
