The rediscovery of architect Gianfranco Frattini’s oeuvre continues. Following the success of the exhibition Gianfranco Frattini: ieri, oggi, domani, held at Palazzo Borromeo in Cesano Maderno during Milano Design Week 2023, Silvana Editoriale dedicates a book to the architect and designer. Available in Italian bookstores from December 2023, abroad spring 2024.

«As a designer I was born in the workshop»: Gianfranco Frattini often repeated it, an architect who for craftsmanship and manual skill cultivated a true and cultured passion, equal to that animated by his interest in industrial processes capable of making an «intelligent use of the machine». The contributions that make up the new Gianfranco Frattini publication are numerous and largely unpublished. Design 1955/2003 by Silvana Editoriale and which highlight the design sensitivity and the different areas in which the architect has worked over the years, from design to textile research to domestic interiors. The volume is accompanied by 58 product sheets which exhaustively describe furnishings and projects, describing their characteristics and revealing curiosities. The iconographic apparatus is also rich: original sketches and drawings of some architectural projects, photographs of archive pieces and re-editions are placed alongside the images of the exhibition to Gianfranco Frattini: ieri, oggi, domani appointment “out of town” among the most appreciated of the Milan Design Week 2023.

Gianfranco Frattini. Design 1955/2003 was presented in Milan, at the ADI Design Museum, on 11 January 2024: moderated by the critic and curator Silvana Annicchiarico, Luciano Galimberti, President of ADI, the architect and designer Emanuela Frattini Magnusson, Matteo Pirola, professor of History of design at IULM and Politecnico di Milano, Pierluigi Masini, journalist and author and Matteo Pizzi, general director at Silvana Editoriale.
